Rolex Daytona 16520 Porcelain.

A fellow forum member and watch enthusiast has written an excellent post about the rarest Rolex Daytona ref. 16520. This rare variant features the so-called "Porcelain" dial.

Custom Rolex: Bamford Army VS. Navy

These have to be the most bizarre customized Rolex's I've seen in a while...

Official Statement:
– Bamford Watch Department has recruited two of the most iconic military characters of all time — Beetle Bailey and Popeye the Sailor to serve as the inspiration for an exclusive Americana and military-themed watch collection.
Through a unique collaboration with King Features Syndicate and fashion tastemaker Darren Romanelli, known for his popular fashion brand Dr. Romanelli (DRx), the world’s laziest private and the mightiest mariner will be integrated on the fronts of the custom-designed watches. The back of each watch will be engraved with the Dr. Romanelli logo and numbered edition.
Each watch comes with a custom comic strip and, through an innovative packaging concept, the collection stays true to the classic properties and celebrates both the Army and Navy.

New Pickup: Rolex Air-King (Logo Dial)

New Pickup: I've never referred to a watch as "Cute" but this is a cute little vintage Rolex Air King. It features a "P" Logo on the dial that many collector's believed represented Pan American airlines, however it is actually an oil company "Pool Intairdril".

A great blog with information on this previously called "Pan-Am" dial is linked below:

So, Bronze is in !!!

It seems every few years watch cases get "Exotic". I mean a few years ago Ceramic was the "IT" material and before that Titanium/Tantalum (Even Carbon Fiber for a hot minute)- Well, now Bronze is the coolest material!

So, What is Bronze ?
is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive. It is hard and brittle, and it was particularly significant in antiquity, so much so that the Bronze Age was named after the metal.

So, what's so great about Bronze?
One Word.

PATINA

Broze Patinas soo nicely.

(You wanna example ?)

In any event here are two amazing bronze watches.

Panerai Pam 382 (Awesome Review)
(Priced in the $20,000s)

Check out the Patina!

My Personal Favorite

(Mainly because it is only $1299.99)
(Photos below belong to a fellow forum member Navitimer)

Some of the manufacturers that use Bronze:
1.-Lum-Tec
2.-Magrette
3.-Anonimo
4.-Helson Shark Diver
5.-Panerai
6.-Olivier

A Lesson... How To Avoid A 40K Fines.

A Vancouver man must pay nearly $40,000 after failing to declare a Rolex watch worth twice that amount.

Please note the photo is a stock photo of a vintage Rolex.

Lesson:
If you find yourself traveling abroad and a Rolex captures your attention (or before the trip you think you may want to purchase a Rolex).

1. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COUNTRY WITH A ROLEX (YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO ENTER WITH "1") So, bring a beater.
2. If/When you purchase a new Rolex remember to ship the box and papers back to your country (If you are so lucky to find a full set). After all who travels with box and papers...
3. Wear your newly acquired Rolex through customs (keep the Casio/Omega in the suitcase or on your wife's wrist).

Tutorial: How To Change The Bezel Insert.

So, I get emails at least once a week requesting that I make a post on how to swap/replace a bezel insert.
While I've been meaning to get around to this, unfortunately have not yet...

Well, someone on the forums (www.rolexforums.com *The Best Rolex Forum On The New*) asked the same question and someone responded with an awesome link.

Thanks kyle L & Jocke (For a great tutorial)

Random Act Of Beauty!

Rare Tudor Variant w/Olongapo Bracelet
(Notice the Litmus circular indicator above the 6 'o'clock)

I really find this piece interesting. It is very reminiscent of the Tornek Rayville modified Blancpains. The litmus indicator above the 6 let's the owner know if the watch has been compromised with moisture. The indicator will change colors with the presence of moisture. Recently on TRF a gentleman posted a similar piece that originally belonged to his father. A navy seal circa early 60's. It is my belief and others the litmus dot was an addition/mod not a trait delivered by Rolex/Tudor.

Incoming Watch!

Hello Swiss Monsters,

So, it's been a while since I've made a post. There are several reasons for this but none are as interesting as the many post that will be added this week. Fist and foremost,  I have something new coming in today. It is a birthday gift to myself. It is a beautiful piece! It is not what I normally buy... This is all I'll say.
