Audemars Piguet and Royal Oak - 40th anniversary

by Henry
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the great Royal Oak watch, Audemars Piguet is publishing a 300-page book on the history of this legendary model. The book contains many illustrations and a detailed description of the timepiece, from its inception in 1972. The publication of the Royal Oak book coincides with the global launch of its 40th anniversary tour, which will begin on 21 March 2012 in New York. Forty visitors going to the exhibition in New York will have the chance to win a copy of the book bearing the signature of Martin Wehrli, Director of the Audemars Piguet Museum over the past 20 years.
In her preface, Jasmine Audemars, Managing Director, explained that the work "is intended as a tribute to the watch's creator Gerald Genta, an expression of gratitude to all the people who have contributed to its success and the promise of a great future." Similarly, CEO of Audemars Piguet, Philippe Merk, thanked the people "whose descriptions shed an unexpected light on the legend, with some amusing anecdotes."
The book has texts in seven languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and Simplified Chinese) and is available for sale on the 40th anniversary exhibition of the Royal Oak around the world, as well as in the most prestigious bookshops in all the cities included in the tour: New York, Milan, Paris, Beijing, Singapore and Dubai.
