Indian Ambassador in Switzerland Chitra Narain has finally approached the Sotheby's in Geneva with the request to stop the auction of 18k pink gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual wrist watch of the first Indian President Rajendra Prasad.
The watch was gifted to Prasad on the first Republic Day in 1950.
Sanjiv Mittal, joint secretary, ministry of culture, Vigyan Bhawan Annexxe has written a letter to the great greatson of the former president, Dr Ashoka Jahnavi Prasad informing him that Sotheby's has been asked to confirm whether the provenance of the watch is legal.
