It's Luxury Tuesday: #1

Alright Swiss Monsters, it's Tuesday and this marks the first "Luxury Tuesday". Remember, "Luxury Tuesday" will be a weekly post that highlights luxury apparel. Today I will be posting a few suggestions for the home library or office/study. I think most who read this blog would agree that every man should have a fine timepiece. It is my opinion a fine writing instrument is a necessity as well. Today, I am going to suggest three piece that should be present on a Gentleman's desk in his home. In the day of the disposable pen and the laptop computer even the office has become filled with disposable junk. In the past a pen was a valuable tool; a piece of intimate apparel. While, one may choose not to carry a pricey pen with them "on the go", a writing instrument should have a place in the home office.

"On The Desk."

I. First: A desk clock.
I myself, think the Cartier desk-clocks are a beautiful touch to the home office (Examples below can be purchased for $500USD-$2500USD). Not only do these beautiful clocks offer something extraordinarily dear, time, they serve as an accent that alludes to the the owner taste.

II. Second: A fine writing instrument. I can appreciate that some, while enjoying luxury items, have a budget in mind. It is because of this I have made two suggestions for writing pens. Both examples are beautiful and of quality, however, one is what I would consider "Affordable Luxury".

Conklin Mark Twain 2012 Crescent Filler Fountain Pen
An exact replica of the original Crescent Filler fountain pen used and promoted by Mark Twain. You can experience the same satisfaction and inspiration that Twain felt as he penned his extraordinary thoughts. In 1903, the legendary American author expressed the virtues of this unique self-filling pen in advertisements where he stated, I prefer it to ten other fountain pens, because it carries its filler in its own stomach, and I cannot mislay even by art or intention. Also, I prefer it because it is a profanity saver; it cannot roll off the desk . The Crescent Filler is known for its easy-to-fill reservoir. To fill the pen, simply press the crescent on the barrel to empty the rubber bladder inside; ink flows back in as the crescent is released. Conklin fitted the Crescent with a two-tone steel nib featuring a corresponding crescent shaped breathing hole - now available with a stub point which is great for signatures! The Crescent Filler fountain pen is now available in captivating, fresh resin colors. Rich gold plating adds a bit of elegance to the clip and band engraved with the Conklin logo. The Conklin Mark Twain 2012 Crescent Filler Fountain Pen Features Replica of the famous writer Mark Twain's preferred writing pen Easy-to-use self-filling ink system Crescent on the barrel helps to prevent pen from rolling away Accented with rich gold plating on clip and band Now available in fresh, captivating resin colors

The Second option is a personal favorite of mine. The Montblanc Chopin.
Montblanc Meisterstuck Platinum Line Homage Frederic Chopin Fountain Pen

  • This is a fountain pen with piston converter (allows optional use of ink cartridges) and a hand-crafted 14kt medium nib with platinum inlay, The barrel is black precious resin with black resin cap inlay with the Montblanc white star and with three platinum-plated rings with embossed Montblanc lettering.
  • The clip is platinum-plated.
  • Refills: Montblanc ink: black, blue-black (permanent, ferro-gallic content), royal blue, bordeaux, sepia, violet, racing green.
  • Montblanc Meisterstuck Platinum Line Hommage Frederic Chopin Fountain Pen.
Mont Blanc Chopin available for $399.99

III. Third. I think a classic touch to every desk is a lamp. I think it is fair to say that all lamps are not created equal. While even the most inexpensive lamp can perform the task of illumination. It is my opinion, the aesthetics of a lamp are as important as it's functionality. There is nothing that compares to the emerald glow of an antique "Banker's Lamp".
