Audemars Piguet 15202 VS. 15300.

Audemars Piguet 15202 Vs. 15300 (Both 39mm)
It seems the question of the differences of these two APs is more and more common on forums. So, TheSwissMonster.com is going to break it down for you guys.

Left  AP model 15300.  Right AP model 15202.

As one of the moderators of the AP forum on Timezone.com said:
"It is easier to name the differences than the similarities between these watches." Howard Parr (boa2)

Mr. Parr mentions that the cases, clasps, bracelets, bezels, thickness & movements are dissimilar. It is in TheSwissMonster.com's opinion most WIS would access this, however, the casual enthusiast (an oxymoron, I realize) may not immediately recognize this. They would most likely realize that the AP 15300 has a second hand while the new "Jumbo" model does not. Upon further inspection another obvious difference between the pieces would be that the AP 15300 has a screw-down crown whilst the 15202 does not. This is interesting as both of the pieces have a 50 meters water resistance. Another difference is that the 15300 features a quick-set date function while the 15202, more true to a vintage or original release DOES NOT. There is a difference between the power reserve as well, The 15300 has a power reserve of 60 hours while the 15202 has a power reserve of 40 hours. It is interesting that a comparison of specs may lead one to believe that the 15300 is the better choice, it is important to note a crucial difference in the 15202 is the movement. The 15202 features movement 212, this is used in many of APs more complicated timepieces. The 15202 is seen as perhaps, more of a collector's piece. I, myself, am not sure that the 15202 that cost 50% more is more alluring. It is in my opinion, as well as many others, The 15300 model with perhaps a more ordinary 3120 movement (found in the Offshore line) is perfectly suitable and every much as capable (and even more capable considering the quick-set function).
