Today's "Random Act Of Beauty!" is the iconic Gerald Genta designed Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. This AP ref. 142790 is an automatic JLC caliber based movement with a case that measures around 36mm. The original AP Royal Oak "Jumbo" measured at 39mm like it's modern predecessor the 15300. A quick Google search will show many modern 39mm versions of this beautiful piece, however to find a 142790 in nice condition is a difficult task. It is important to note that the dial is not black but a signature gray color (very difficult to photograph), its this honeycomb textured dial which was the clincher. So, here it is one of my all-time favorite pieces the AP 142790.
